Ana Valenta


Ana Valenta has worked at the College for more than 11 years.  She work with MEd programs focusing on admission, graduation, the logistics of navigating UIC, processing paperwork and assisting students with registration.  She enjoys helping student through the journey of graduate school and reach the goal of graduation from the program.  Ana holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the UIC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Anthropology and an MEd Instructional Leadership degree from the College of Education with a concentration in Educational Studies.  Contact her at

Elise Wilson


Elise A. Wilson, M.Div., is Doctoral Programs Advisor in the College of Education, Office of Student Services (OSS), where she directs and coordinates activities related to admissions and program management.   She has worked in this position for over seven years.  However, Elise has served the College of Education for over 10 years; prior to joining OSS, she worked as Assistant to Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  What she enjoys most about her current position is that it gives her the opportunity to facilitate students achieving their academic dreams and goals.  Elise received her undergraduate degree in Social Studies from Roosevelt University, her Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Services, from Roosevelt University and her Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary.  Contact her at

The University of Illinois Alumni Association provides a job board for all alumni. The College is also working on developing its own internal job board; check back here for updates.


The Spring 2018 Commencement ceremony for the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago will be held in the UIC Pavilion on Friday, May 11th, at 7:00 p.m.

The College of Education will grant the BA, MEd, PhD and EdD degrees to graduates who have completed their programs during the Spring 2018 semester and students who graduated in the Summer and Fall 2017 semesters who did not attend the Fall 2017 Commencement ceremony.

How to apply to graduate:

Instructions (deadline of February 2, 2018)

1. Log in to

2. Select the Academics tab, then click on the Records tab.

To Apply To Graduate

Under Student Record Links, choose Declare your Intent to Graduate.

  • You may be asked to log in, if you are not currently logged in to my.UIC.
  • After logging in, the "Graduation Information" page will automatically open
  • Read the Graduate Information Page and Apply to Graduate Steps
  • Click Apply to Graduate at bottom of page 
  • Select the curriculum from which you are graduating and click continue
    • (NOTE: if your program information is incorrect, you will be able to make changes on the Supplemental Data page. If you are graduating from more than one program, you will have to go back in and submit a second application for your second degree after you have completed your first application. You can review your list of graduation applications by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.)
  • Choose the correct graduation date from the drop down and click continue 
  • Verify the name you want printed on your diploma. Click Help for information on how to change your name, if necessary. If you need to update your diploma name, please contact the Office of Registration and Records at 312-996-4381. Click continue to move on to next page.
  • Verify diploma mailing address and click continue.
    • (NOTE: Please update your diploma mailing address as appropriate. Your diploma will be mailed to this address. If no diploma address is recorded, your most recent mailing address will be used which may not be accurate.)
  • Review application summary and click Submit Request after verifying application information. Your graduation application will not be submitted unless you click on Submit Request.
  • Review Printable Application Confirmation page. If changes/corrections need to be made, click the Add Supplemental Data tab and make note of corrections to your minor, concentration, major, etc. (i.e. - "Add Spanish minor", "Kinesiology concentration should be Movement Sciences", etc.)

If no supplemental data needs to be added, then you have completed the graduate application process.
